Welcome to my guide for beginners to JasX games and how to set up an outfit.

This guide is to assist you setting up your RLV clothing folders. This only need to be done once per outfit, but do not let the length of this guide prevent you from making all kinds of interesting outfits. After setting up this once, it will be easy to recreate for new outfits.

Some explanation on how JasX Works:

During any of the JasX games, there are usually three states (four if you use a strap on). You are either dressed, stripped to your undies, or completely naked, and in that order usually. A fun outfit usually takes advantage of all three states, so plan your outfits to always gain/lose clothing when switching between those states.Below is a quick-start guide, followed by a more detailed guide with an example of setting up an outfit.

Further down the page you will find the guide on setting up outfit groups that have been introduce in the JasX HUD 0.5.8

QUICKSTART

  1. Head on over to the JasX Store at Quiddity
  2. Select “Register or Link Account” on the Terminal.
  3. Select new account and follow the instructions to get your password.
  4. This is the very basics of the folders that you will need and what you have to put in each.
  5. For detailed instructions, please scroll down further.
  6. The folder layout should look like the image to the left, with the letters in capital where shown.
    • #RLVJasX Outfit NameThe four states of clothingThe five parts of clothing
      • Sporty” is the name of my outfit, name your outfits as you wish.
  7. In each folder, you copy the items as links to the folder that correspond to what you want wear at that point.
    • You only add the items you want to wear, nothing else. Items that gets added to the folders gets added/removed during state changes.
    • Your body, for example, would never get added into the folders unless you want to swap it during the game.
  8. Example 1:
  9. You are wearing shoes and socks:
  10. Shoes and socks would go in the Dressed Boots folder
  11. Only the socks would go in the Underwear Boots folder
  12. Don’t add either in the Bits folder.
  13. Example 2:
  14. You are wearing pants when dressed, but not a thong as there is clipping issues. You want the underwear on when in the underwear state though, and when naked, you want your private parts on.
  15. Only the pants goes in the DressedCrotch folder.
  16. Only the thong goes in the Underwear Crotch folder.
  17. Only your private parts go in the Bits Crotch folder.

DETAILED GUIDE
OUTFIT

For my example, I am going to set up the outfit pictured to the right.
It is an urban and sport themed outfit, that takes advantage of all three states.

  • Dressed – Jacket, pants, shoes, bracelets and even a hat. The sports bra can be seen through the jacket, with a bit of the thong sticking out.
  • Underwear – The sports bra, thong, hat, socks and one bracelet is left on.
  • Naked – Nothing is worn, including the hat gets removed (a little trick by changing out the hairstyle).

I have saved my outfit as an actual Outfit in Second Life using the Outfit window. This allows me to easily see what items I am wearing and be able to do this process faster.

On the left is my full outfit. The colored lines represent items I will not copy to my JasX outfit folder. This is because the JasX outfit folder ONLY require items it will detach and attach. Everything else does not get added.

  • Red – My mesh body and head, default system layers, shape and physics
  • Purple – A clothing item that I never want detached, in my case, my favorite choker.

FOLDER SETUP

Click through the slides below and follow the instructions for the initial folder creation for an outfit.
IMPORTANT: Name the folders EXACTLY as I have named them in the slides to the right, with and without capital letters where needed.

OUTFIT SETUP

IMPORTANT: As mentioned above, ONLY copy the items that you want to be applied/removed. DO NOT copy in your mesh body, head, hair, etc. (unless you want to attach different hair or a body during the game).

IMPORTANT: You want the copied items to be LINKS, not a copy of the actual item. If you are copying straight from your Outfits folder, it will be a link since the Outfits are links already, but if you are copying straight from the original item, you need to Right Click – “Paste as Link” on the folder.

To make sure you have copied a link, the end of the items name will always have the text “(link)”.

Not to set up the JasX outfit.

  1. We will start with the Dressed folder first, so go ahead and open it. This will be your full outfit and you will be wearing.
  2. Inside you will find your 5 folders that was created before. Open the first one, Arms.
  3. Follow the slides below.

Now we need to set up the Underwear folder, and we will only copy links that we want to wear while in the underwear state.

  1. Open your Dressed and Underwear folders.
  2. Click the slides on the left and follow the instructions.

And that is it for my Underwear state.

Last state and the easiest usually, Bits, also known as naked!  This will be where all your private parts go in.

  1. Open your Underwear and Bits folders.
  2. Click the slides on the right.

And that is it, your outfit is done!
Oh!… but what about this folder called Strapon?
This is, as the name states, for a strap-on or any other items you want to attach when interacting with a female.
The Strapon folder has the same sub-folders as the other, so just copy and paste as link your attachments in the folder that makes sense.

SELECT OUTFIT

Since your outfit is set up, you will need to use the JasX HUD again.
Go to the HUD tab (top left blue heart button) and select your outfit on the right.

If you do not see your outfit, hit refresh.

TEST OUTFIT

Now to test if it actually works.
The slides below describe how to test your outfit.

OUTFIT GROUPS

With the JasX HUD 0.5.8 and later, you can now create outfit groups. This allows you to have different avatars bodies setup, each with their own outfits. In my example below, I am setting up my human look and ghost look.

DONE

That is it.

If your outfit is not working as expected, the most common problems usually are:

  • Your RLV is not on.
  • Your folders are set up incorrectly.
  • The outfit is not selected in your HUD.

If not one of these reasons solve your issue though, feel free to send me (Drau) an IM in world and I can help you.

I hope this guide was helpful and you were able to setup your outfit without issues.
If you have any questions, suggestions or issues, please feel free to contact me via the contact form here on the website, or IM me (Drau) directly in Second Life.

Have fun! ♥
